I used to just use them on my acoustics because the sounded amazing, but now I use them on both my acoustics and electrics. These strings go great on a Taylor T-5 or a Les Paul. Yes, they are heavier gauge as the other reviews pointed out, and the G string is a wound G. Heavier gauge and a wound G can make solos more difficult if you're bending strings, but I've had no problem adjusting. They last forever, sound great, and Amazon has them at a great price. I really can't say enough about Elixirs. Beautiful amber sunburst finish. I wanted to electrify it but wanted to keep it old school, so I had a tele neck pickup installed between the screen holes by the neck and a single volume control on the lower part of the body. I'm a blues player, not Jerry Douglas, so I wasn't going for the true, hi-fi Dobro sound. Bronze acoustic guitar strings don't work too well with a magnetic pickup, so I tried standard heavy electric strings, but they still lose their "edge" like any other string would after playing for a couple of weeks. I put these on 3 years ago, and they're still sounding GREAT. The wound strings still have their "zing" to them. Being coated, the noise of my slide is reduced, and being I don't fret alot, the strings are still in great condition. I'm tuned in a "G" tuning and the string tension is perfect. If you have a mag pickup Dobro, you gotta try these. About the only problem is you're gonna buy them only a couple...
