Picture quality is superior, full 1080P which many other Camcorders has but color quality is the best 2. The sound is 5.1 with wind sound reduction (we tried it outside in a windy day and it did a great job) 3. The moving lens technology makes the picture much more stable (I examined this technology by placing 2 camcorders on my car dash while driving and there was a huge different in picture stabilization) 4. The built in projector was more than my expectation, so cool 5. It has both sold internal and external memory 6. Videos are very sharp when leaving all the setting to "auto" and shooting at 60p. The image stabilization is probably the best there is - very steady. Colors appear to be well balanced. I've also experimented a bit with the manual knob with shutter speed and iris and it appears there is a fair amount of manual control available. The photos are a little disappointing - they appear "soft" or slightly out of focus, but I didn't buy the camera for shooting stills. One thing that is a little concerning is that when you walk around with the camera powered off, I can feel the optical block clunking around. The software that comes on the camera for installing on the pc (Sony Play Memories Studio)was difficult to install (finally got it installed after 3 tries) but will not update to the full version from the web. I didn't intend to use it anyhow, but was curious if it had any... Of course Sony fails on both points. That said: why drew me to the camera was the promise of good low-light video and decent stills, and I have to say it seems to deliver. I'm not sold on the proprietary add-ons (e.g., the active shoe, which means I have to buy an additional add-on to mount my Rode Videomic...or just toss it out and buy a Sony), but the stabilization is quite good, the image quality in the stills is more than acceptable (maybe I'm crazy but it compares favorably to my Nikon 80-200 2.8 VRII), and the video seems quite clear, although I am not a video guy so my opinion may not be worth much. I'd be very interested in hearing other people's opinions about this camera.
